President Donald Trump’s approval rating on the economy has fallen to its lowest level across both of his terms, according to CNBC’s latest All-America Economic Survey. Some 65% of Americans disapprove of his economic performance, up from 60% in July, while approval has slipped to 34%.

Economic concerns are spreading beyond Democratic and independent voters. Around 80% of Americans describe the economy as fair or poor, while 63% are pessimistic about current conditions and the outlook. Republican pessimism has also climbed, reaching 35% — its highest level across Trump’s two terms, according to the survey.

The findings could spell trouble for Republicans ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections. Voters favor Democratic control of Congress by 52% to 45%, widening the Democrats’ lead by three percentage points since July. The cost of living remains a major concern, with 57% of respondents identifying food, gas, or housing costs as their top issue.

Despite growing economic dissatisfaction, analysts caution that a Democratic advantage in national polling does not guarantee sweeping electoral gains. The outcome will depend on how voter sentiment translates into competitive congressional races, particularly in districts and states Trump won in 2024.
